The usual places to look for digital photography courses are community colleges, YMCAs and camera clubs (which you can find in your local paper). However, these courses don’t always happen at convenient times. You might also discover that you have only a short amount of time to take a crash course in something like digital wedding photography (especially if the bride is heavily pregnant). You can try online digital photography courses.

Some Are Free

Some of the digital photography courses you come across online are actually a series of detailed articles. This is not as bad as it at first sounds. First of all, these kinds of online digital courses are usually free, put up by camera supply websites in order to help stimulate your interest in a hobby that supports their business. However one of the most popular is put out by About.com (which is heavy on advertising, but it’s free). That one comes in your email like an e-book.

You can also go to websites like ExpertVillage.com and click on their digital photography category to get a video version of digital photography courses in one to five minute chunks. The great thing about the videos is that you can rewind them. You can also make fun of the teacher without him or her knowing it. And, of course, it’s free (provided you have internet access and a computer.)

Before You Go

Before you sign up or attempt one of these free online digital photography courses, you do need to know a little bit about digital cameras. You want to have the camera in front of you and be able to identify the parts. You also want to know what kind of memory card your camera takes. Good digital photography courses will also give you a glossary of terms used, but not all will. Make sure in advance.

You also need to know that you have all of the specifications to be able to read the online digital photography courses. Some many require you to have the latest version of Abode, which is free to download IF you already have an older version of it. Abode is usually standard with Windows XP and higher. You will also need to check the spam filter of your email box in case your digital photography courses are sent to you by email. Your email security program might not recognize the address and immediately assume that it is spam.

One of the latest trends to sweep the nation is the practice is having a zombie wedding. This is sort of like a traditional wedding – only a lot gorier and a lot more interesting for the spectators. But, like with any wedding, they will want pictures. Digital wedding photography is a lot like traditional wedding photography – but you need a strong stomach and a sense of humor.

Low Light Is All Right

Don’t ask for more light to be brought to a zombie wedding. Although there might be an occasion where you can snap the happy and decomposing couple in a brightly lit room, the rest of the ceremony will be as creepy as possible. This means that this will be dark to low lighting. With digital wedding photography, you must be prepared for this contingency.

Most likely, you will need a flash and some reflective paper in order to bounce enough of the low light to the back of your camera. If this sounds entirely gibberish, then you need to learn digital photography from books, online courses or websites. You can also go online digital wedding photography forums in order to ask very specific questions. Joining such a forum should be free.

Low Expectations Are Also All Right

The chances are really high that the couple of the zombie wedding will not expect a very high standard of digital wedding photography as compared to traditional wedding photography. However, you will still be expected to get reasonably clear and interesting images that captures the essence (if not the aroma) of the event. You may be asked to be sure to get a particular profile, because that’s where the creepy maggot-ridden scar makeup job is.

Album Presentation

Your zombie wedding couple might prefer to have a CD-ROM of their wedding album than a traditional album. Be sure to get this straight beforehand. You will have a lot less work with your digital wedding photography putting it into a CD-ROM than putting it into a traditional album.

You also don’t want to use the sentimental special effects used in digital wedding photography. No soft-focus shots, no oval fuzzy frames around the images (no unless they’re cobwebs) and for God’ sake, no cherubs (unless they’re skeletons). You can even show the original digital wedding photography stills in order to help the happy couple select a proper wedding album. You might not recognize the couple when out of their zombie garb, but they will be just as proud of their zombie wedding as a June bride would be at a white wedding.
