Nature Photography Shows Aesthetic Value Of The Environment

Published by Author at 11:54 pm under Photography

There is a lot more to nature photography than setting up a camera in the back yard and taking pictures of bugs crawling across the grass. To most photographers it is about images of many things in a natural environment and can include landscape, wildlife and plants in their natural setting. As many other forms of photography such as photojournalism and documentary focus on recording history, nature photography is more about aesthetics of capturing nature in its original environment.

There are many aspects of nature photography that may not readily be apparent in the finished print, such as shadows from a blocked sun or clouds floating by that add a dramatic effect to the captured moment in time. There is also the promise of capturing that one great image of wildlife in its natural habitat that draws many people to the business of nature photography.

There are numerous publications in which nature photography are displayed and a few photographers have become famous for their ability to show the splendor and beauty of the natural world. In this genre of art, the ability to allow the viewers to feel as though they are actually part of the scene is what makes nature photography one of the most respected forms.

Different Focus Used For Different Styles

Landscape photography is used by photographers as opposed to artists using paint and a brush. Typically shot with a wide-angle lens, many professionals will use filters in order to catch the right density of the landscape. In the industry of nature photography landscapes are equally as exciting to many as waterfalls. Depending on the speed at which the pictures are taken, waterfall pictures can be used to stop all action of the water, or to only slow it down to indication action in the photograph.

Wildlife photography, typically shot in the natural habitat, aims to show animals and other forms of wildlife in action. Whether they are eating, fighting or birds in flight, nature photography also can take place in preserves where the odds of finding the subject of the picture are greatly improved. Some aviaries and refuges invite guests who are interested in nature photography but lack the resources to spend time in the wild.

Plants, more specifically the texture of the plants are another focus of nature photography, in that tight pictures are able to create interesting images of the natural texture of the plants. Many images in plant photography are considered abstracts, as they may show only a portion of the whole subject.
